First San Diego Science Festival a HUGE SUCCESS!

It became the country's biggest SCIENCE FESTIVAL,
and FanFaire is proud to have contributed to its huge success!

Over 75,000 people from all over the county, state - and yes! even the world - turned up at the San Diego Science Festival's grand finale in Balboa Park, a big success by any measure.

There were over 25 science-related performances and over 200 hands-on interactive booths where children, families and people of all ages participated in such activities as: finger painting with algae, playing catch with a robot, looking through telescopes at sunspots, racing remote controlled cars, making test-tube lava lamps, and creating musical instruments - the last being one of the offerings at FanFaire's crowd-drawing booth.

The above video shows it was FUN GALORE at the FanFaire booth, where kids of all ages (from one to eighty!) learned about the physics of music as they visualized the fascinating shapes of sound and made musical instruments from common objects while enjoying Matt Wohl, Steven Carter and Scooter Oyama's swinging live jazz - proving without a doubt that SCIENCE  + MUSIC = FUN!

In March, FanFaire also sponsored a NIFTY FIFTY lecture at San Diego's Memorial Preparatory for Scholars and Athletes, one of a series of lectures by real-live scientists to audiences of middle- to high-schoolers as a way of inspiring young people to pursue science careers.
