From Baroque to Jazz to Folk & World Music ...

Jean-Pierre Rampal,
possibly the most recorded classical instrumentalist in history,
can be heard on the Erato, Philips and Denon labels and in the last years of his life recorded exclusively for Sony Classical. He has received the Grand Prix du Disque for several of his albums. Among his recent releases are Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" and "In Concert with Kathleen Battle". Other Sony Classical recordings include "Italian Baroque Flute Concertos", "Vivaldi: Six Double Concertos", an all-Mozart disc with John Steele Ritter and Pierre Pierlot, a disc of Trios with Isaac Stern and Mstislav Rostropovich, Music for Flute and Harp with Marielle Nordmann. Jean-Pierre Rampal and Pierre Boulez are the only classical musicians to have kept a hit on the Billboard chart for 10 consecutive years, for Claude Bolling's "Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano No.1". In February 2000, "Jean-Pierre Rampal Super Hits" was released. Rampal's recordings have been universal best sellers.

Many honors have been bestowed upon Jean-Pierre Rampal during his career, among them, the Leonie Sonning Prize, the Prix du Président de la République and the Académie Charles Cros for his entire discography. He has also been made a Commandeur de la Légion d'Honneur, an officer des Arts et des Lettres and a Commandeur de l'Ordre National de Mérite.
