Conductor Keith Lockhart leads the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra in an all-Gershwin
program with pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Broadway sensations Marin Mazzie
and Brian Stokes Mitchell on Sunday, August 26, closing the 2007 regular Tanglewood
season.
This 2:30 p.m. concert features some of Gershwin’s best-loved pieces,
such as Rhapsody in Blue for piano and orchestra and An American in Paris,
as well as
Variations on “I Got Rhythm” for piano and orchestra and selections
from the Gershwin songbook. Although this concert marks the end of the 2007
Tanglewood season, the Tanglewood Jazz Festival will run from August 31 to
September 2 with performances by Randy Crawford and Joe Sample, Kurt Elling,
Ahmad Jamal, the Poncho Sanchez Latin Big Band, Hank Jones, Roberta Gambarini,
and Jimmy Heath, as well as Marian McPartland.
TANGLEWOOD TICKET INFORMATION
Tickets are currently on sale through Tanglewood’s website,
www.tanglewood.org, and through SymphonyCharge at 888-266-1200. Prices
for the Tanglewood season are $9-$99; tickets for Tanglewood on Parade
are $20, $28, $40, $59, $85, and $99. All ticket prices include a $1 Tanglewood
grounds-maintenance fee. Tickets are also available for purchase in person
at the Tanglewood Box Office For further information, please call the Boston

Tanglewood continues its Children’s Lawn Ticket Program, which offers
free lawn seating to children age 12 and under. Up to four free children’s
tickets are available per parent or legal guardian per concert at the Tanglewood
Box Office on the day of the concert. All patrons, regardless of age, must
have a ticket. The free lawn-ticket
policy does not apply to organized groups of children. Other rules apply.
Tanglewood is pleased to offer a 50 percent discount on lawn tickets for all
BSO Friday-evening concerts for students over age 12. This offer is valid
only with a student identification card. Tickets may be purchased in person
at the Main Box Office only on the night of the performance.
Tanglewood concerts are broadcast live on Friday and Saturday
evenings and Sunday afternoons in Boston on WCRB 99.5 FM, in Albany on
WAMC 90.3 FM, and in Connecticut on WMNR 88.1 FM. Sunday-afternoon
concerts are broadcast in Boston on WGBH 89.7 FM.
