Pavarotti Stars in Benefit Event for Columbus Symphony Orchestra

Mega-opera star Luciano Pavarotti, who recently celebrated his 30 years with the Metropolitan Opera, will be performing in concert with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra at Ohio State University's Jerome Schottenstein Center on February 28, 1999 at 7 pm. The concert will benefit the symphony orchestra which, like many other orchestras around the country, has been struggling financially through the years . Under new leadership, the symphony has organized a campaign to raise $3 million. While the halfway mark has already been surpassed, this concert is being viewed as an important turning point in the symphony's efforts to reverse its fortunes.

The Columbus Symphony Orchestra is central Ohio's oldest and most prominent performing arts organization. In 1999 it will present over 200 performances under the leadership of Music Director Alessandro Siciliani who has been praised for taking the orchestra to new levels of excellence.

Tickets: $1,000 per person (includes premium seating and post-concert reception), $375 (premium seating only).

The Columbus Symphony concert is only one of many benefit events that Mr. Pavarotti has participated in. Most recently, he co-launched Pavarotti and Friends for the children of Liberia - a War Child charity that has been giving the proceeds of its sales to help rebuild bomb devastated areas so that children that live there have a fighting chance to someday live out their dreams.
