SUSANNE MENTZER, one of today's leading mezzo-sopranos will perform in recital on Sunday July 26, 1998 at the Irvine Barclay Theatre in Irvine, California in a program that includes lieder by Schubert and Mahler, works by Rossini and Satie, as well as some American folk songs. She will be accompanied on the piano by renowned pianist Martin Katz who appears regularly with the world's finest singers and was most recently honored as 1998 Accompanist of the Year by Musical America. Susanne Mentzer is well-known for her interpretations of Mozart's mezzo-soprano roles and will sing Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro this fall at the Metropolitan Opera where she appears each season. She also performs at the Lyric opera of Chicago, L'Opera de Paris Bastille and La Scala and has a lengthy operatic discography. |
