American tenor RICHARD LEECH will open the GRANT PARK MUSIC FESTIVAL on
June 20, 1998 in a concert honoring MARIO LANZA, with Maestro PAUL NADLER
conducting the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra.
AN EVENING WITH RICHARD LEECH IN TRIBUTE TO MARIO LANZA
|In a unique programme of song and narrative celebrating the magic and passion of Mario Lanza, Richard Leech will take the audience on a journey through the life of America's beloved tenor whose storybook life ended in his tragic death in 1959 at the age of 38.
Mario Lanza himself sang two concerts at Grant Park - on July 6, 1946 and July 20, 1947 - and on June 20, Richard Leech will sing many of the songs heard on those two evenings.
