The Sapporo Concert Hall, which opened in 1997, was commissioned by the city of Sapporo to be the home of both the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra and the Pacific Music Festival. It consists of a large hall seating 2008 and a small hall seating 453, both of which were designed specifically for the performance of classical music. Would anyone be surprised if Sapporo, the largest city on the northern island of Hokkaido, well known for hosting the 1972 Winter Olympics and for its spectacular Snow Festival became famous as the city where the music is as good as the skiing! How could a city have it so good? Learn more about the hall and its acoustics |
