| The
foundation was launched at Carnegie Hall on Marilyn Horne's 60th birthday
in January 1994. Its mission: to encourage young talent and nurture
audiences for the art of vocal recital, which is accomplished through
four programs: |

Artist
residencies: The foundation through partnerships with local presenters
across the country, provides co-sponsorship grants that enable the
presenter to produce recitals and educational programs featuring young
artists who have been selected by foundation advisors and further
trained in classical song through the foundation's educational programs.

Radio
Broadcast Series, On Wings of Song: A vocal recital series
inaugurated in 1995 featuring foundation artists, presented once a
month from September through May on Sunday afternoons at The Kosciuszko
Foundation, hosted by Marilyn Horne and 96.3 FM WQXR's June Le Bell,
and rebroadcast the following Saturday evening. |

Mini-festival,
The Song Continues...: Started in January 1997, and held in
association with the Juilliard School each January thereafter, the
festival consists of master classes by Ms. Horne and other celebrated
artists, seminars, and the foundation's annual recital hosted by Ms.
Horne with well known artists and rising stars as guest performers. |

New York
City Educational Outreach: A new music education program consisting
of informal lecture demonstrations featuring the foundation's young
artists and pianists. Partners include The Children's Aid Society
Chorus, the Frederick Douglass Academy, Dream Yard Dram project, and
Education through Music. |
The foundation, which
is supported by donations from individuals, foundations, corporations and
government entities in 27 states an 7 countries, has as of the start of
the millennium presented 40 young singers in 83 recitals in 16 states, awarded
36 grants to concert presenters across the US, and conducted 118 educational
programs. |
