SUMMERTIME! Vivica performs Manuel de Falla's "El Amor Brujo" or "Love, the Magician" Sunday June 29 at the Caramoor Festival in Katonah in upstate NY. The work, in the tradition of the cantaora, or Flamenco singer, is about a gypsy plagued by visions of a former lover, will be performed in its original 1915 version, which calls for a chamber ensemble (St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble, Michael Barrett, conducting). Then back to Europe for a VIRGIN CLASSICS recording(in Brussels) of VIVALDI's Ercole sul Termodonte in which she sings the role of Antiope with Europa Galante, Fabio Biondi conducting. |

| L'ATENAIDE:
CD on the Naive Records label - Release date: EuropeSeptember 18 / US
October 30, 2007 (distribution by Naxos). LAtenaide is thought to be one of Vivaldi's most spectacular operas in which he basically "took the best arias from his other operas and put them all into this one opera," according to Susan Orlando, director for the label's Vivaldi Edition. This recording thus is "a collection of great bravura arias with singers who have all the agility to rise to the demands of this very challenging music. The result is unbelieable - a little miracle! Everything came together perfectly for this recording, and that rarely happens." The work was recorded in Florence in the very theatre in which it was first performed 279 years ago, with the eminent Florentine conductor and Vivaldi specialist Federico Maria Sardelli conducting the cast of world-class singers.
