FANFAIRE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES $1000 GRAND PRIZE FOR 2011 SOLOISTS' COMPETITION

FANFAIRE FOUNDATION recently announced that its second Annual Soloists' Competition to be held NOVEMBER 12 and 13 at the French Parlor / University of San Diego will feature a $1000 Grand Prize.

The competition was established in September 2010 in connection with the Foundation's First Messiah Sing-Along Concert under the direction of its Ambassador for Communty Outreach, Dr. ANGELA YEUNG, to promote and encourage both student and young professional singers in Southern California.

FOUR SOLOISTS will be chosen in the following voice categories: SOPRANO, ALTO, TENOR, and BASS. A Grand Prize of $1000 awaits the soloist adjudged as the BEST SINGER. The four competition winners will sing the solo parts accompanied by the Greater San Diego Community Orchestra in the 2011 MESSIAH SING-ALONG and PLAY-ALONG CONCERT to be held at the Neurosciences Institute Auditorium in La Jolla on December 2 and 4, 2011.

LET NEWTON BE! THEATRE as a SPECTACULAR PLATFORM for SCIENCE

Captivating, Haunting - Isaac Newton On Stage: Let Newton Be! - a travelling drama commissioned out of Cambridge University (the Faraday Institute at Edmunds College) will be on the campus of Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) in San Diego, CA Thursday, April 21st at 7:00 p.m. in the Crill Performance Hall.

Based on the life of one of the two or three most important figures in the history of science, Sir Isaac Newton, the drama has been reviewed highly in Science Magazine, America's leading science journal. It is currently touring North America and Britain , including productions in Glasgow, London, Boston, Toronto and New York City. This performance is sponsored jointly by The BioLogos Foundation and PLNU which was invited by one of the world's leading science/faith organizations, The Faraday Institute to host the event.

This is a great multi-disciplinary opportunity--general education at its finest.

SDSU Opera Theater presents An Operatic Sampler!
A selection of scenes and arias from 12 delectable operas!


SDSU Opera Theater will present two performances of Opera Scenes on Wednesday, April 27th. Come and enjoy a "taste of opera" at the 12 Noon Concert Series performance, or a "full plate" at 7pm! Both performances will be held in Rhapsody Hall, SDSU School of Music and Dance and are FREE to all. While performances are FREE, donations will be accepted at the evening performance as a fundraiser kick-off for SDSU Opera Theater's 2011-12 production, to be held during the 75th anniversary celebration of SDSU School of Music & Dance.
