ELIZABETH HYNES sang the pivotal role of Dona Elena de Robles, the
Viceroy's niece in The Conquistador.
She was last seen with the San Diego Opera in the 1993 season as
Madama Butterfly in 1993, a role she has performed numerous times
across North America: at the New York City Opera (in both the US
premiere and 1996 revival of the 1904 version), Washington Opera,
Houston Grand Oepra, Florentine Opera, Seattle Opera, Vancouver
Opera, Opera Pacific, Sacramento Opera and Michigan Opera Theatre.

Another favorite role is the Countess in Mozart's Le Nozze di
Figaro which she sang in a New York City Opera production telecast
nationwide on public television. She has performed the role with
the Dallas, New Orleans, Cincinnati and Omaha opera companies.

Donna Anna in Don Giovani for Milwaukee's Florentine

Ms.
Hynes is also often heard on the concert stage, having appeared
with the Seattle Symphony as soloist in the Brahms Requiem and Mahler's
Second Symphony, among others. She made her European debut in Barcelona,
singing Mendelssohn's Third Symphony, and in Madrid in Bach's St
John Passion. She was also guest soloist with the Vienna Tonkuenther
Orchestra on its American tour. Her upcoming roles this year include
Mimi in La boheme with Florentine Opera and the title role
in Barber's Vanessa with the Opera Festival of New Jersey.
She can be heard on the Nonsuch recording of Weill's Silverlake.
