With this CD giveaway, FanFaire in partnership with DEUTSCHE GRAMOPHONE yet again, welcomes pianist LANG LANG to its roster of featured artists.

Lang Lang's first Beethoven recording, the CD album marks a welcome milestone in the artistic development of the much lionized, young piano virtuoso from China. He plays Piano Concertos No. 1 (early Beethoven) and 4 (mature Beethoven) in collaboration with Christoph Eschenbach conducting the Orchestre de Paris. Together they engage in a dialogue of remarkable musicianship, the inevitable result of the profound and productive relationship that has evolved between mentor (Eschenbach, who is a noted pianist himself) and protege (Lang) since their first encounter at the Ravinia Festival in 1999 when he burst into the international scene.

The digital dexterity for which Lang Lang has been universally acclaimed continues to dazzle the listener - whose enjoyment of this recording can only be enhanced by en ever growing sense of a direct connect between the pianist's virtuosity and his mind and heart; and, the CD cover notwithstanding, of a palpably subdued and disciplined showmanship. Could this be the CD that signals the coming of age and the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the child prodigy of the MTV generation? Quite possibly.  And if in addition it also is the CD that draws the young generation en masse to Beethoven, wouldn't that be quite an accomplishment worth every music lover's gratitude?
