| Canadian-American
soprano Erin Wall was recently hailed as "platinum-class"
(The Times, London) for her performance as a finalist
in the BBC Singer of the World in Cardiff competition in 2003.
In 2004-05 Ms Wall looks forward
to performing in an Operatic Gala with the San Francisco Symphony, rejoining
Lyric Opera for Das Rheingold (Freia) and Die Walküre
(Gerhilde), Messiah with the Toronto Symphony, the Beethoven
Symphony No. 9 with the New York Philharmonic, Brahms' Ein
deutsches Requiem with the Oregon Symphony and Cosi fan tutte
(Fiodiligi) at Aix-en-Provence. Upcoming
engagements include debuts with the Opéra National de Paris (Palais
Garnier), Aix-en-Provence Festival, Vienna Festwoche, the Mozart Festival
(ViennaMarilyn Horne Foundation, Ms. Wall will be featured in recital
in several New York City venues as part of the 2004-2005 "On Wings
of Song" and "The Song Continues" series.
In previous seasons Ms.
Wall has been heard with the London and Vancouver Symphonies, and at
the City of London, Ravinia and Gran Park Festivals. For
the past three seasons, she has been a member of the Lyric Opera of
Chicago Center for American Artists, where she recently sang Marguerite
in Faust during the 2003-2004 season. At Lyric Opera, she has
appeared as the First Lady in Die Zauberflöte, Gerhilde
in Die Walküre, Flowermaiden in Parsifal, and
Nursemaid in Street Scene.
Ms. Wall's recent concert debuts include the London Symphony Orchestra
(Britten’s War Requiem) and the Chicago and Vancouver
Symphonies, and recent festival appearances include the City of London
Festival, the Ravinia Festival, and the Grant Park Music Festival.
Born to
American parents in Calgary, Alberta, Ms. Wall studied at the Vancouver
Academy of Music throughout her childhood, and holds degrees from Western
Washington University and Rice University. She also studied voice at
the Aspen Music Festival and the Music Academy of the West, where she
was a student of Marilyn Horne. In addition to an extensive concert
and recital repertoire, her current operatic repertoire include the
title role in Carlisle Floyd's Susannah, Pamina in Die
Zauberflöte, Violetta in La Traviata, Micaëla
in Carmen, Anne Trulove in The Rake's Progress, Contessa
in Le Nozze di Figaro, Marguerite in Faust, Thaïs,
and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni .
Ms. Wall has
received several awards and career grants in addition to the 2004 ARIA
Award from the ARIA Foundation. She is the recipient of a Richard Tucker
Award (2004) and a Sara Tucker Study Grant (2002). In addition, she has
been an winner in the Dallas Opera Career Grant Competition, the George
London Foundation Awards, the MacAllister Awards, the Metropolitan Opera
National Council auditions, and the Florida Grand Opera's Young Artists'
Competition. She represented Canada in the finals of the 2003 BBC Singer
of the World in Cardiff competition.

receiving the ARIA Award, Ms. Wall stated:

recognizes more than just one great performance or achievement. I am familiar
