better believe it when we say that this mini-opera incarnation of Ricky
Ian Gordon's ORPHEUS and EURIDICE is not like
anything you've seen before. This preview video clip proves it!
Credit the creative and adventurous imagination of LONG BEACH OPERA's
Artistic and General Director, the Viennese conductor and stage director
ANDREAS MITISEK who has enlisted modern technology in the service of
art to give us this one-of-a kind multi-media production of a contemporary
work, born from grief and inspired by a legend from antiquity.
This exciting and challenging production runs at the BELMONT PLAZA OLYMPIC
POOL in Long Beach, California on February 17, 18 and 19, 2008. Visit

Commissioned
by virtuoso clarinetist TODD PALMER, the work was originally staged
by the Lincoln Center in 2005 as a piece for soprano, clarinet and piano
with ELIZABETH FUTRAL and TODD PALMER who also perform the lead roles
in this new version.
